Below is my response to Dana's comment.
Philip

Mission accomplished :)
That is a great story. I often hear this from parents about their children.

I've also heard from special ed teachers who use it in the classroom for their Autistic children. It does wonders to calm them. I'm glad that something I created has such a positive and profound impact on people.

Philip,

Thanks for the information. I am definitely interested. We (me and my boys) have loved the music CD's I bought
last year -- in fact, my 3 year old requests to hear your CD when we are driving in the car and he is tired. It is so
mellow and relaxing, he always falls asleep!

You're very talented! I look forward to hearing more of your music.

Hi Philip,

Don't know if you remember me but, I used to work at Forest Park Hospital with you. I was the P.T. who worked on 2 So.

I quit the end of Feb. I am now working at Delmar Gardens South. You were working on new CD when you left. Let me know when it comes out in CD as you were playing some of ther songs when you left and I thought it was some of your best work.Got your email address from Sharon, who is a neighbor of a friend of mine.

Hello! simply super!

Lindsay

April 30, 2008

Thanks for the music. I remember seeing your performance at Fairview Heights' Borders store a couple years ago and being really impressed. I got a copy of Lamentations of the Heart for my brother and he performed it in front of over 200 people the next summer. (He leaves this summer for college as an aspiring musician.) Thank you for the newsletter update--I look forward to hearing more about upcoming concerts, sheet music, and CD sales.

Impressive

April 21, 2008

Dear Mr. Wesley

Impressive, only I can say impressive. I already have your CD's. Today have arrived
they.

Today Monday 21 of April I have not words, and the emotion has filled of tears my
eyes when I have listened to "Away In A Manger".

Your music has remembered to me aromas of white holidays with my grandparents. My
more sincere congratulations, your music has something very special, I do not know
to say it!

Best,

Alejandro from Spain (Seville)

And I shortly hope to be able to also buy "Dark Night Of The Soul".

Hi Philip! I heard your "Comfort and Joy" piece on Shoutcast.com (it played right

We Three Kings

December 6, 2007

Just heard We Three Kings on Got Radio.com and fell in love with it. I purchased
your Comfort and Joy from CD Baby. Both my sons are aspiring piano artists studying
the Suzuki Method in Florida. Do you have sheet music available for the Comfort and
Joy album?

I will let all my friends and family know about your music and encourage them to
visit your web site. Best of luck to you in your career.

Susan

December 3, 2007

I am really enjoying your music now that I discovered you (through Napster) but I
was wondering if you had any other sheet music available for your Christmas music
other than the "O Christmas Tree" available on this site. I appreciate the simple,
contemplative style and would love to recreate some of the recordings on your
"Comfort and Joy" Christmas CD on my own piano for our family Christmas gathering.
Would you/have you considered selling any additional scores? Thanks,
A lazy musician,
Susan

As you can probably tell, I've also turned my guestbook into a blog spot. So feel free to continue adding your comments, and I'll continue to post here as well.

I had a few performances in Nashville that were a lot of fun to be involved with. One was the VPH concert on 11/15/07 and the other was the Luton Society Dinner at Cheekwood Gardens on 11/16/07. Thank you to Dr. Myung Lee and Dr. Stephan Heckers for their support of my music at these Vanderbilt events.

I also want to thank Musicians on Call,(a non for profit organization that brings the healing power of music to hospital patients)for recognizing me and my music as a valuable asset to their wonderful program.

These were the first real public appearances I've made since moving to Nashville in 2006/2007. It feels really good to start performing again. I'm in the process of finishing up a new CD and I'll continue to make more appearances in Nashville as I get to know the city a bit more. Everyone here plays guitar and sings so it is interesting to see how my music stands out here, especially in a live performance setting.

Thought for today

November 8, 2007

Everything in life is not logical, but we can enjoy the moment anyway. Lord, help me become spontaneous to the dreams that pass by.

Thursday, November 8, 2007
See the bright future
What has happened before has brought you to where you are. Yet the past has no control over where you can go from here.

Your past history does not create your future. The choices you make right now are what create the substance of that future.

Learn from your mistakes, but do not agonize over them. There is nothing you can do to change the fact that they happened, yet there is much you can do to move positively beyond them.

When you dwell on the past it holds you prisoner. When you let it go, that allows you to go anywhere you now choose.

People change, circumstances change, and you can change too. With each moment comes the opportunity to shake off the old assumptions and limitations, to give new purpose and meaning to life.

Give new energy, new effort, new commitment and determination to this day that you have the good fortune to be living. See the bright future that can be, and you will make it so.

It's been a bad day
You've been looking back
And all you can see is everything you wish you could take back
All your mistakes
A world of regrets
All of those moments you would rather forget
I know it's hard to believe Let me refresh your memory

Yesterday is history And history is miles away
So, leave it all behind you
But let it always remind you of the day
The day that love made history

You know you can't stay right where you fell
The hardest part is forgiving yourself
But let's take a walk into today
And don't let your past get in the way

Would you believe that you are history in the making, in the making?
Every choice that you are making
Every step that you are taking
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
Every word that you are saying
Every prayer that you are praying
Every chain that you are breaking
History is in the making
History is in the making
History is in the making

Cry Out

July 31, 2007

To everyone who's lost someone they love
long before it was their time.
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye.

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
keepin' you back from your life.
You believe that there's nothing
and there is no one who can make it right.

There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary,
and love for the broken hearts.
There is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are.

Cry out to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus.

For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
have lost all of their faith in love.
and they've done all they can to make it right again
still it's not enough.

For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
you try to give up but you come back again.
Just remember that you're not alone
in your shame and your suffering.

There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary,
and love for the broken hearts.
There is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are.

Cry out to Jesus.

When you're lonely and it feels like the whole world is falling on you
you just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus

Cry to Jesus.

To the widow who suffers from being alone,
wipin' the tears from her eyes.
For the children around the world without a home,
say a prayer tonight.

There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary,
and love for the broken hearts.
There is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing
that meets you wherever you are.
There is hope for the helpless, rest for the weary,
and love for the broken hearts.
There is grace and forgiveness, mercy and healing
that meets you wherever you are.

Cry out to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus.

Cry out to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus.

What is Happiness?

July 28, 2007

Happy people focus more on what they have and less on what they don't have; in addition, they more frequently practice appreciation for the good things in life and are less likely to take simple pleasures and benefits for granted.
Gratitude is undoubtedly an important component of happiness...but it's not just about being thankful for good things, it's also about the way you think even when things don't seem to be going right.
When the work is piled high on your desk, think about how thankful you are to even have a job while so many are unemployed. When work is driving you crazy, think about the fact you are healthy enough to work. When you are sitting in traffic, be thankful you can drive a car while so many have to walk miles just to get clean water. When the restaurant messes up your meal, think about how many unfed mouths there are in the world.
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others. - Cicero (106 BC - 43 BC),

Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy. Jacques Maritain (1882 - 1973)

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well. - Voltaire (1694 - 1778)
Practice gratitude - every night before you go to bed, or every morning as you wake and start the day (or both!):

list (preferably in writing) 3-5 things in your life for which you're grateful
reflect on 3-5 aspects of your life for which you're grateful
meditate on anything and everything in the world you believe deserves to be appeciated.
there is a route to genuine and enduring happiness, but it flies in the face of much that is our greedy, self-obsessed culture. It's called generosity, and it involves freely giving of our four most valuable resources - time, talents, treasure and touch. In return, we'll receive unimaginable "riches".
In recent years, many scientists have begun examining the links between religion and good health, both physical and mental. Now two psychologists are working to unlock the puzzle of how faith might promote happiness. Dr. Michael McCollough, of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Robert Emmons, of the University of California at Davis, say their initial scientific study indicates that gratitude plays a significant role in a person's sense of well-being.

From Cicero to Buddha, many philosophers and spiritual teachers have celebrated gratitude. The world's major religions, including Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Hindu, prize gratitude as a morally beneficial emotional state that encourages reciprocal kindness. Pastors, priests, parents and grandparents have long extolled the virtues of gratitude, but until recently, scholars have largely ignored it as a subject of scientific inquiry.

McCollough and Emmons were curious about why people involved in their faith seem to have more happiness and a greater sense of well-being than those who aren't and decided to study the connections. After making initial observations and compiling all the previous research on gratitude, they conducted the Research Project on Gratitude and Thanksgiving. The study required several hundred people in three different groups to keep daily diaries. The first group kept a diary of the events that occurred during the day, while the second group recorded their unpleasant experiences. The last group made a daily list of things for which they were grateful.

The results of the study indicated that daily gratitude exercises resulted in higher reported levels of alertness, enthusiasm, determination, optimism and energy. Additionally, the gratitude group experienced less depression and stress, was more likely to help others, exercised more regularly and made more progress toward personal goals. According to the findings, people who feel grateful are also more likely to feel loved. McCollough and Emmons also noted that gratitude encouraged a positive cycle of reciprocal kindness among people since one act of gratitude encourages another.

McCullough says these results also seem to show that gratitude works independently of faith. Though gratitude is a substantial part of most religions, he says the benefits extend to the general population, regardless of faith or lack thereof. In light of his research, McCullough suggests that anyone can increase their sense of well-being and create positive social effects just from counting their blessings.

Praise you in the Storm

June 28, 2007

I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Pusuit of Passion

June 20, 2007

I was wondering if you had sheet music available for Pursuit of Passion? That has
quickly become on of my favorite piano selections to listen to. I would love to get
a hold of a copy of the sheet music for it. Is that possible? If so, where do I go
to purchase it?

Thanks so much.

If You Want Me To

June 13, 2007

The pathway is broken
The signs are unclear
I can't find the reason why You led me here
But just because You love me the way that You do
I will go through the valley
If You want me to

Now I'm not who I was
When I took my first step
And I'm clinging to the promise You're not through with me yet
And if all of these trials can make me like You
I will go through the fire
If You want me to

It may not be the way I would have chosen
'Cause it leads me through a world that's not my home
But You never said it would be easy
Only that I'll never go alone

When the whole world turns against me
And I'm all by myself
And I can't hear You answer my cries for help
I'll remember the suffering Your love put You through
And I will go through the valley
If You want me to

I'm writing a piece for a recital and found your music very inspiring.

Love this song

June 6, 2007

Have you been walking on a surface that’s uncertain
Have you helped yourself to everything that’s empty
You can’t live,
This way too long,
There’s more than this,
More than this

Have you been standing on your own feet too long
Have you been looking for a place where you belong
You can rest,
You will find rest

Let this old life crumble,
Let it fade,
Let this new life offered be your saving grace,
Let this old life crumble let it fade,
Let it fade

Have you been holding on to what this world has offered
Have you been giving in to all these masquerades it will be gone,
It will be gone

Are you carrying the weight too much,
Are you running from the call

'2 Corinthians 5:17 says, ” Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.” This is a song for anyone that is trying to hold on to the cares of this world. Unless we realize that through Christ we have all that we need, we’ll never understand the true grace and peace that He offers. Know that when you give your heart to Jesus, the past has been forgiven and we have been given the fullness of new life.

Hello Philip,

Do you intend to transcribe your version of Carol ofthe Bells? Its probably one of my favorite versions I've heard and
would love to have it in my repertoire for this coming holiday season.
I'm sure others would as well. Hope you had a great weekend.

We stand and lift up our hands
For the joy of the Lord is our strength
We bow down and worship Him now
How great, how awesome is He

And together we sing

Holy is the Lord God Almighty
The earth is filled with His glory
Holy is the Lord God Almighty
The earth is filled with His glory
The earth is filled with His glory

We stand and lift up our hands
For the joy of the Lord is our strength
We bow down and worship Him now
How great, how awesome is He

And together we sing
Everyone sing

It's rising up all around
It's the anthem of the Lord's renown
repeat

And together we sing,
everyone sing

In a Lifetime Fan

April 24, 2007

I purchased all three songs off your website. I enjoy them a lot! My
favorite cd of yours is "In A Lifetime" I especially like the songs: Pursuit of
Passion, Equstrian Dreams, Friends, and In the Eyes of a Child. I would love to
see any or all of these songs on sheet music! I'll be checking your website often,
so I can be the first to buy them when you get them out! THANKS A LOT!

April 20, 2007

I just wanted to say thank you for responding to my email. I really appreciate it.
I fell a week ago and broke my neck, and my wife bought me two of your CD's from

I love listening to your music. It has such a way of soothing me, also, makes me wish I could play as well. Keep up the good work!

Phillip I listend to your music for the first time today. I recently started
learning again reading music after taking lessons as a Disabled kid that could do
nothing much else but play piano. Now still disabled and much older and again can
do nothing much else but play. I recently bought a piano and started playing again.
The One Love I never pursued but knew I should Have. In My Heart I know it would
have been my career as well as my love. I have played by ear all my life and always
wrote my own music, sadly never writing it down. I heard one of your pieces and it
is so simmiliar to what I have written it is almost scary. Your style is exactly
like my own. I Just had to write you and tell you. Love your music and I will have
to write a different song or everyone will say I copied you. Wrtie me sometime I
would like that.

Philip

I would like to ask you if it is possible to buy the sheet for "In a lifetime" or
"State of Grace"?

I will soon buy your CD (In a lifetime), because I like your music very much !

I come from Denmark, and I started to play piano a couple of years ago. I really
hope that it is possible to buy the sheets, because it would be so nice to play your
beautiful music myself.
Thank you in advance.

Sanctus Real

March 29, 2007

I heard you say you would love for a lifetime.
Now you complain a lifetime just doesn't feel right for you.
Another casualty of casual love.
Another soul out of place, a heart that gave up.
Why do we break the promises we make?
Are we living for ourselves?
Don't give up on love and throw it all away.
Don't give up on love and let it fall away.
When did it become so easy to run from your pain?
Don't give up on love and throw it all away.
I heard you say you can't change a stubborn heart.
I can relate 'cause that's how I feel when I talk with you.
Why should it take losing everything
to realize it might be time to change?
Your restless heart won't win 'cause you take but you don't give.
And you'll keep moving on until you learn what love is.
Don't throw it all away, don't give up, don't give in.

Casting Crowns

March 27, 2007

It hasn’t always been this way
I’ve remember brighter days
Before the dark ones came
Stole my mind
Wrapped my soul in chains

Now I live among the dead
Fighting voices in my head
Hoping someone hears me crying in the night
And carries me away

Set me free of the chains holding me
Is anybody out there hearing me?
Set me free

Morning breaks another day
Finds me crying in the rain
All alone with my demons I am
Who is this man that comes my way?
The dark ones shriek
They scream His name
Is this the One they say will set the captives free?
Jesus, rescue me

As the God man passes by
He looks straight through my eyes
And darkness cannot hide

Do you want to be free?
Lift your chains
I hold the key
All power on Heaven and earth belong to me

You are free
You are free
You are free

With each keystroke, Wesley draws us close and gradually reveals the intimate experiences of his heart. Be it beauty, anguish, joy, or longing - we find sanctuary there in his musical embrace and comfort in the familiarity of emotion with which his songs are infused. I look forward with great anticipation to Wesley's next CD as it is always a privilege to be allowed into his inner realm.

Hello Philip. My girlfriend Lisa is a big fan of your music (she listened to the same 30 second clip over and over!). I'm buying her two of your CDs for her birthday on August 28th. I was wondering if you could send me a short letter wishing her a happy birthday that I could give her with your CDs? I think she'd be really thrilled to receive something like that. I know you're probably really busy; but, I would really appreciate it.

Hi Philip! I wanted to tell you how much I've been enjoying your music. I saw you at the Olsen Garden at Children's Hospital a few weeks ago. Your music was a pefect fit for that place. I noticed as you played, the parents would relax so much to the point that they would even cry. Which I think is a good thing. As a parent myself, I find it much needed in this sometimes stressful world. Thank you for your music.

Hi Philip,
Great to hear such nice piano technique along with memorable and soothing songs. I loved particulilarly the feeling of your music. Your contribution to this inspirational form of piano composition ((New Age, though I believe we're all superceded that label))is well appreciated. I think you have a unique sound that is crisp, professional, and yet sensetive. The heart felt interpretations speak for themselves. I loved the "Equestrienne "Piece...After hearing a series of young Julliard artists recently I realise how important creativity and remaining an original pianist/composer is on the future of music. What you do today is really for tomorow. I look forward to hearing you live. God Bless and thanks for your dedication.

I would recommend Philip's CDs to anyone who has a lot of stress in their life, who loves contemporary piano, who wants CDs of pleasing solo piano music, or who likes wistful, captivating melodies. Philip's music is utterly serene, soothing, heartfelt and passionate. Some of the best songs are "At This Moment", "Lamentations of the Heart", "In the Eyes of a Child" and "Wings to Freedom". If you like piano solos then this is about as good as it gets. A must-have for all fans of contemporary piano music!
